La gymnastique aux agrès telle qu’on la connaît en Suisse n’est pratiquée dans aucun autre pays.
C’est une version populaire de la gymnastique artistique.

C’est actuellement l’une des disciplines sportives les plus pratiquées en Suisse.

Le but est : La recherche de la perfection des éléments exécutés.

C’est un sport complet qui permet de développer force, souplesse et agilité.
Chez les filles, cette gymnastique est pratiquée sur quatre agrès : le sol, les anneaux balançant, le saut (mini trampoline) et la barre fixe.

Les garçons pratiquent les mêmes engins, ainsi que les barres parallèles.

Compétition :

En gymnastique individuelle il existe huit catégories :

C1, C2, C3, C4 qui sont les catégories jeunesse.
C5, C6, C7 et C dames/homme (dès 22/28 ans) sont les catégories actives.

Chaque catégorie a son programme de compétition (ses exigences techniques). Le système de notation est sur 10. Plusieurs compétitions par année sont proposées sur Genève.

Chaque année, des qualifications ont lieu pour les championnats romands.

Ceux-ci réunissent par catégorie les meilleurs gymnastes des cantons romands.
